Baird backs China children’s education platform
Baird Capital, the private investment arm of Robert W. Baird, has committed an undisclosed sum to Peter Winn, former China president at English First Professional (EF), to explore education sector investments in the country.
The capital will be used for acquisition, partnership and China organic growth opportunities in the early children's education and after-school activities.
"Baird has a strong franchise in education and the opportunities in China's education market are huge. Baird Capital's investment brings the benefit of Baird's full institutional resources to support Peter in building another leading education company in China," said Brett Tucker, a partner with the firm's China growth equity team.
Winn has over 15 years of experience of operations management and strategy, marketing, finance and multi-site retail development. He spent six years at EF, building the business from a concept to a market-leading brand in the English language sector.
As of 2012, EF had more than 40,000 concurrent students across 40 training centers in China's largest cities.
