Chinese pet-oriented social network Smellme has raised a $6 million Series A round of funding led by Innovation Works.
Smellme's platform allows users to create profiles for their pets and connect with other pet owners. The app includes message boards where users can plan in-person meetings and group activities. Smellme claims to have grown its membership from 500,000 last year to five million now, covering 26 countries.
Members can also use the platform to book real-world services, such as veterinarian and grooming appointments, and to ask questions of vets through an integrated service. The company will use the new funding to expand its integrated software offerings, according to 36kr.
Innovation Works' recent investments include an undisclosed amount of Series A funding for monitoring hardware developer Beijing Dnurse Technology and a $22 million Series B round for facial recognition technology developer Face++.
