Australia's PE Gateway Group backs messaging service
Australia-based Private Equity Gateway Group (PEGG) has invested in U&Me Communication, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s OM Technology that has developed a mobile messaging platform.
The partnership between the two companies will see U&Me enter the Australia and New Zealand, European and North American markets. Hamid Rashid, COO of U&Me, told a press conference that the company would also add a number of new enterprise lifestyle solutions to its platform.
Launched in March 2014, U&Me Messenger offers free text messaging, audio and video calling, file-sharing, location-sharing and group chat services. The company has also developed two subscription-based products: secure messaging service U&Me Safe Box and U&Me Plus, a platform for business users.
U&Me is looking to reach $10 million in revenue this year, up from the current figure of $3 million.
Parent company OM was founded in 2009 and develops web, mobile and desktop applications as well as product-based solutions. In addition to U&Me, it has launched school management software tool Techno Edusuite, financial services-focused systems Annecto DMS and Actus, and classifieds portal FindMe365Days.
PEGG's core business involves providing transaction advisory services for private equity and corporate clients. It also holds interests in a number of public and private enterprises covering resources, online delivery and transaction platforms, property, financial services, human resources, and agribusiness.
