NEA hires Carmen Chang as advisor
Venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA) has appointed Carmen Chang to the role of special senior advisor. Chang joins NEA from US law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (WSGR).
She will work with NEA's portfolio companies based in or operating in China, having led WSGR's China practice, specializing in corporate and securities law, in her previous role.
"Carmen is truly a pioneer when it comes to US in-bound investing in China, and we are thrilled to welcome her as part of our team," said Scott Sandell, general partner at NEA. "Since NEA became active in China nearly a decade ago, we have worked closely with Carmen on many occasions, and her acumen and experience will be an incredible asset as we continue to expand our activities in China."
Chnag described the move as a "natural next step" for her, given her familiarity with how NEA works.
While at WSGR, Chang represented listed and private technology companies and financial institutions in public offerings, M&A, joint ventures, financings and other types of deals in the US and overseas. Her experience included working on SMIC's acquisition of Motorola's manufacturing arm in Tianjin - China's first M&A deal after the nation's M&A legislation came into effect.
