AVCJ Australia webinar takes place Thursday
The opportunities and challenges facing Australian private equity will be discussed by a panel of industry experts at an AVCJ webinar on February 21. It begins at 11 a.m. (2 p.m. AEST) and will last for approximately 45 minutes. Audience members will not be charged.
Speakers include Peter Wiggs, managing partner at Archer Capital, Anthony Kerwick, managing director of Pacific Equity Partners, and Andrew Major, general manager for investments at superannuation fund HESTA. Katherine Woodthorpe, CEO of the Australian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (AVCAL) will act as moderator.
The webinar will address the most pressing issues for private equity in Australia, a market with a strong pipeline of control deals yet one that faces an uncertain exit environment and upheaval within its domestic LP base.
Topics for discussion include: the current state of the industry and the outlook for 2013; how Australia-focused managers are marketing themselves to domestic and international LPs, and what these investors expect in terms of returns; whether the mid-market can sustain growing levels of interest; the prospects for IPOs exits and the viable alternatives should public markets remain difficult; how private equity can help Australian companies expand overseas, and how the country in general can leverage its ties to China.

The webinar serves as a primer for the AVCJ Australia & New Zealand Forum, now in its 10th year, which takes place in Sydney on March 6-8.
