
Henderson Private Equity invests $10m in IPE Global
Henderson Equity Partners has paid $10 million for a 26% stake in Delhi-based Infrastructure Professionals Enterprise (IPE Global), a consultancy specializing in infrastructure development projects. The investment was made through Henderson Asia Pacific Equity Partners II LP.
Established in 1998, IPE Global works with central and local government agencies, multilateral and bilateral donors, and corporates to support socio-economic projects in South Asia and in parts of South East Asia and Africa. Its primary focus is improving public sector and development governance. Clients include the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, several UN agencies, the Department for International Development and USAID.
The company says profit has grown ten-fold in the last five years, while revenue reached approximately US$20 million for the 2010-11 financial year. It now wants to consolidate its position through acquisitions domestically and overseas.
“IPE Global is a noncyclical business and has a strong order book – orders had increased through the global economic downturn,” said Rahul Bhargava, Henderson’s Singapore-based principal.
Henderson Equity Partners had approximately US$1.7 billion under
management as of the end of Marcht 31 March 2011 through Asia Pacific Equity Partners I and II, both of which focus on making growth equity investments in the Asia Pacific region.
