Gree Ventures, MIC back $6m round for Japanese software firm
Gree Ventures and Mobile Internet Capital (MIC) have taken part in a JPY625 million ($6 million) investment round for Accounting SaaS Japan (A-SaaS), a developer of cloud-based accounting software.
According to a release, other participants include strategic investor Saleforce.com, which produces cloud-based CRM applications, and previous individual backers. With this latest investment the company has now raised a total JPY750 million to date.
A-SaaS is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company, which means the software and the associated data it provides is hosted in a cloud. Users access the software by going online. Some of the advantages for clients using SaaS over traditional software are lower reduced IT costs, easier upgrades and better integration with existing IT systems.
The service currently has a membership base of around 1350, 550 of which are active users. In addition receiving investment, A-SaaS will use Saleforce.com's existing mobile app platform, Force.com, to expand its service.
