Asian LPs back Capital Dynamics' energy, infra fund
Capital Dynamics has closed its clean energy and infrastructure direct investment fund at $462.5 million, with one fifth of the contributions coming from Asian investors.
The fund is one of four strategies that form part of Capital Dynamics' clean energy platform. Approximately $1 billion has been raised for this platform since 2010. The level of Asian participation is roughly consistent with the firm's earlier solar fund, suggesting robust demand from the region for long-term, stable and yield-driven returns.
Other LPs in Capital Dynamics Clean Energy and Infrastructure LP (the CEI fund) include groups from North America, Europe and the Middle East.
The capital will be deployed in proven technologies such as biomass, landfill gas, small hydropower, solar, wind, gas-fired power and co-generation. There have already been nine investments in the US and the UK. Of these projects, six are operational and generating electricity.
"The success of our CEI fund is a clear indication of the demand for capital within the clean energy infrastructure field. Our CEI team is dedicated to supporting municipal clean energy efforts, finding value for our clients and making socially responsible investments in clean energy assets," said Stefan Ammann, CEO of Capital Dynamics, in a statement.
