Riverside acquires Australian e-learning provider
The Riverside Company has bought Australian e-learning firm Learning Seat, its 300th acquisition. The transaction is the first investment of the firm’s affiliated Riverside Asia-Pacific Fund II.
Learning Seat, which has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, offers training on compliance and professional development to corporate, healthcare, and government clients. It was previously a division of News Limited.
"With our deep experience in the education and training sector, we are confident that we can accelerate expansion at Learning Seat," said Brad Lynch, principal of Riverside, in a statement. "We identified numerous growth opportunities during due diligence, and have the team and resources to capitalize on them."
Simon Feiglin, a partner with Riverside, said plans for the newly acquired company included new product development along with expanded sales and marketing efforts. Working with Feiglin and Lynch on the transaction for Riverside were Senior Associate Steven Spiteri and Associate Jonathan Shin.
The Wingate Group sourced the opportunity for Riverside and partnered with the firm in providing equity financing for the transaction. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia provided debt financing for the transaction.
