Helion, Kalaari lead $10m Series B for Simplilearn.com
Helion Venture Partners and existing backer Kalaari Capital have led a $10 million Series B round for professional certification exam preparation provider Simplilearn Solutions.
India-based Simplilearn offers online training, blended classroom training and exam practice tests in over 80 corporate certification courses across 11 major categories, such as Project Management, SAP Certification, IT Security Management, and Big Data and Cloud Computing.
It launched in 2009 as a blog on project management and in 2010 began to offer a blend of classroom based training and online learning. The company has now trained over 75,000 professionals in over 150 countries around the world, and claims to be the world's largest certification training provider for working professionals.
The funding will allow the company to diversify and expand its course catalog, focus on improving customer engagement by adding local team members in the US, UK, Australia and the Middle East, and enhancing its technology platform to make courses available on mobile devices.
In 2012 Simplilearn received $2.6 million Series A funding from Kalaari Capital. "Since its inception, Simplilearn has grown at a rate of 400% and has outpaced that growth since our investment early last year," said Rajesh Raju, Managing Director, Kalaari Capital.
