Sequoia joins Series A round for personal search engine
Sequoia Capital India has joined Qualcomm Ventures in investing over $1 million in Dexetra, the maker of Friday, a personal search mobile application.
According to TechCrunch, the actual amount invested, said to be between $1 million and $2 million, has not been disclosed as there is the possibility new investors will be joining the round at a later date.
Dexetra is based out of Bangalore and its flagship Android application, Friday, was launched last July. The application is part personal assistant, part search engine, and it keeps a history of an individual's communications, including calls, text messages, emails and social networking habits.
Prior to developing Friday, Dexetra also developed Iris, an Android-based equivalent to Siri, the iPhone's intelligent assistant. The company plans to retire the application, integrating its functions into Friday.
