Intel invests in China cloud communication service Gotye
Intel Capital, the corporate investment arm of the US chipmaker Intel Corp, has invested an undisclosed sum in Gotye.com, a Shanghai-based start-up that provides cloud communication technology solutions.
The deal was confirmed by Gotye on its Weibo microblog. Intel Capital will work with the company to apply its existing technology services into hardware.
Founded in 2011, Gotye offers free application programming interface (API) and software development kit (SDK) technology solutions. They help mobile app developers quickly add online chat room, instant message and real time voice chat features.
The firm, which has over 9,000 registered app developers, plans to use the funding to improve its services and make them more accessible to users.
Early this year, Intel Capital invested in three Chinese could computing start-ups: big data firm Shanghai Yeapoo Information Technology; cloud storage provider Tianjin Zhongke BlueWhale Information Technology; and cloud-based IT solutions company Wuxi China Cloud Technology Service.
