Chinese games platform Egret gets Series B round
Shenzhen Capital Group and Matrix Partners China have participated in a Series B round of funding for Egret Technology, a Chinese internet technology platform that focuses on mobile games development.
Financial terms were not disclosed but the round values the company at RMB1 billion ($161 million), Xiang Gao, co-founder of Egret, said at a corporate event in Beijing.
Founded in February last year, Beijing-based Egret provides an open source platform for games developers to create HTML5-based mobile games. It has released 12 products since inception, the two most prominent of which are Egret Engine and Egret Runtime.
Egret Engine is a technology engine used to create mobile content, while Egret Runtime is embedded in mobile browers and applications and speeds up content processing. More than 13,000 developers use Egret's technology solutions to design over 1,000 new games.
Last December, Engine raised Series A round worth tens of million dollars from Shunwei Capital Partners.
