
Cleary Gottlieb adds Ling Huang as partner in Beijing office
Global law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton announced Ling Huang will join the firm as a partner in its Beijing office.
Huang is a New York-qualified lawyer and practiced at Shearman & Sterling in Beijing for more than 14 years before joining Cleary Gottlieb. She has been focusing on cross-border M&A, private equity, and foreign direct investment transactions.
The 39-year-old lawyer also participates in a wide range of sectors, including aviation, energy, financial services, insurance, leisure and entertainment, media, pharmaceuticals, technology, and telecommunications.
"Ling adds significant China-based expertise and experience to our already internationally recognized domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity practices in China and across the globe," Cleary Gottlieb Managing Partner Mark Leddy said in a statement. "The addition of Ling demonstrates our continued deep commitment to our practice in Asia, where we have had a continuous presence for more than 30 years."
Cleary Gottlieb has been in Asia for more than 30 years, beginning with the opening of its Hong Kong office in 1980, followed by the opening of its Beijing office in 2006. With the addition of Huang, the firm will have more than 55 lawyers in Hong Kong and Beijing, including 11 partners and three counsels.
Cleary Gottlieb engages in M&A, private equity, capital markets, restructuring, and sovereign debt matters. Examples of recent transactions include representing TPG in its investment in Li Ning, one of the leading sports brand enterprises in China.
