Placement agent First Avenue opens Hong Kong office
Private placement agent and advisory firm First Avenue has opened an office in Hong Kong. It will be led by Michael Henningsen, previously a managing director at Park Hill Group.
Henningsen has joined as a partner and will serve as co-head of Asia alongside Martin Donnelly, First Avenue's Sydney-based partner. Henningsen has more than 15 years of advisory experience. He led Park Hill's Hong Kong office, overseeing project management and Asian origination, and before that was a director with UBS' private funds group in London.
"The universe of managers in the region seeking to raise capital is expanding rapidly while at the same time it is becoming a core area of focus for limited partners globally. Our presence in Hong Kong will help us better serve alternative investment managers by offering the very best advice and project management capabilities, which will significantly benefit both our clients and the investors we maintain relationships with," Donnelly said in a statement.
Donnelly, previously a managing director in The Blackstone Group's hedge fund solutions group where he focused on business development and client relations in Australia and the Pacific Rim, launched the Australia and New Zealand business in April 2014.
In addition to Hong Kong and Sydney, First Avenue has offices in London, New York and San Francisco, employing 53 professionals in total. Founded in 2006, the firm raises capital for managers and corporations across private credit, private equity, real assets and real estate in developed and emerging markets.
Previous mandates include Actis' most recent pan-emerging markets growth capital and infrastructure funds.
