Advantage Partners to acquire GTAGuam
Tokyo-based private equity firm Advantage Partners has received the green light to acquire Guam’s leading telecom operator GTA TeleGuam from owner Shamrock Capital Advisors. The deal has been approved by the country’s Public Utilities Commission following a merger agreement GTA signed with AP in November of last year.
Advantage Partners is to acquire shares of GTA from California-based Shamrock for an undisclosed sum. To complete the deal, Advantage still needs to get approval from the Federal Communications Commission.
Advantage Partners aims to provide corporate and financial resources to GTA TeleGuam in an effort to aggressively tap the growing communications market in Guam. In a statement, Daniel Tydingco, Executive Vice President of External and Legal Affairs at GTA TeleGuam, added that Advantage Partners sees growth opportunities for GTA in light of the American Navy's announced scheme to relocate 20,000 marines to Guam from Okinawa before 2014.
