
Pegatron, Mitsui invest in Israel's Valens Semiconductor
Taiwan-based Pegatron and Japan's Mitsui & Co. Global Investment have participated in a $14 million Series B financing round for Israeli firm Valens Semiconductor.
Amiti Ventures, Aviv Venture Capital also contributed capital, as well as return investors Genesis Partners and Magma Venture Partners. Pegatron, which specializes in electronic and computing design and manufacturing services, is the sole strategic investor.
Valens Semiconductor is a leading provider of semiconductor products for the distribution of uncompressed high-definition (HD) multimedia content, such as video and audio transfer, over long distances. It works with the likes of LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics and Sony Pictures Entertainment, according to the company's website.
The funding will accelerate development of follow-on generations of Valens' HDBaseT chipset, enabling further integration, cost reduction and growth in data communication for the consumer electronics and content provider industries.
