Insight Venture commits $250m to Australia's Campaign Monitor
Insight Venture Partners has invested $250 million in Campaign Monitor, an Australian business that makes software for email-marketing campaigns.
The investment marks the first time the Sydney-headquartered company has received venture capital backing since it was established in 2004 by Ben Richardson and Dave Greiner.
Campaign Monitor describes itself as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business, creating easy-to-use email templates for online marketing campaigns which users can then track. The business has 65 employees across 19 cities and claims to have more than 100,000 paying customers in 170 countries.
Campaign Monitor plans to use the new capital to expand its marketing and to hire more sales people. According to a statement, the company is also looking to launch new products in the next year, including a new email designer and a tool for automating online campaigns. In addition, it plans to open its first US office.
"Campaign Monitor leads the market in SaaS email marketing and design solutions," said Deven Parekh, managing director at Insight Venture Partners. "We have been impressed by their remarkable global growth, widespread adoption and high customer satisfaction. Insight's investment will help the company capitalize on the global demand for their solutions and build a global team to serve customers in all markets."
