Neuberger Berman names ex-HKMA executive as head of Asia PE
Kent Chen, a former manager at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), has been appointed managing director at Neuberger Berman and head of the firm's Asia Pacific private equity efforts.
According to a release, Chen's duties will include advising local clients and implementing the firm's investment strategies in the region. He will be based in Hong Kong.
Chen has worked at the HKMA since 1998. His positions within the organization have included deputy chief representative at the New York office and advisor to the IMF's executive director for China in Washington. He also helped to create the firm's private equity strategy. Prior to the HKMA, Chen was head of China research at Daiwa Securities.
Neuberger Berman has about $251 billion in assets under management across equities, fixed income, private equity and hedge fund portfolios, and operates in 18 countries. Last year the Asia office tapped former KKR fundraiser Clifford Chiu to help build its client base in the region.
