Partners Group strengthens Japan private wealth coverage

Partners Group has recruited Tatsuro Aoyama to its private wealth team in Japan with a brief to build out relationships with local distribution partners.
Aoyama joins from BlackRock where he spent 15 years, most recently as team head for wealth and retail in Japan with responsibility for distributor relationships and product management. He began his career at Mizuho Financial Group.
"We see Japan as an important growth market for private wealth within the broader APAC region. Tatsuro has excellent experience taking wealth products to the high net worth segment as well as deep relationships across the country,” said Christian Wicklein, global co-head of private wealth at Partners Group, in a statement.
The firm had USD 142bn in assets under management as of June, of which more than USD 40bn is in regulated evergreen – or semi-liquid – individual-focused investment programmes.
Recent efforts to strengthen private wealth coverage in Asia include the recruitment of Henry Chui last year as head of Asia private wealth. In March, Partners Group brought in Vicky Yick and Carissa Lee as senior client relationship manager and client relationship manager, respectively. They are based in Singapore – like Chui – but primarily cover the Greater China market.
