
Apollo hires Evercore Asia head for IR role

Ian Bell, formerly head of the Asia Pacific private funds group at placement agent Evercore, has joined Apollo Global Management to lead fundraising and investor relations in the region.
As a partner and head of institutional client and product solutions for Asia Pacific, Bell is tasked with providing investor coverage and product management for Apollo’s private equity, private debt, and real assets funds, according to his LinkedIn profile. He continues to be based in Hong Kong.
Bell spent nearly seven years at Evercore, where he served as a managing director and established the firm’s fundraising operation in the region. He was also responsible officer for Evercore Asia. Prior to Evercore, he held senior client coverage roles in Credit Suisse’s fixed-income division, based in Sydney and Hong Kong.
As of March, Apollo had approximately $461.1 billion in assets under management, with $323.3 billion in credit, $89.5 billion in private equity, and $48.4 billion in real assets. The firm closed its most recent global private equity fund at $24.7 billion in 2017.
As of year-end 2020, Asia Pacific accounted for 11% of Apollo’s LP base, including 2% in Australia.
