Everstone names Alok Oberoi as executive chairman

India and Singapore-based Everstone Group has named Alok Oberoi (pictured), a former executive at Goldman Sachs, as executive chairman, effective from 2020.
Oberoi will drive overall strategy and governance while bringing his network and investment experience to investments and exits across asset classes and geographies. He will be based in Singapore and work closely with Sameer Sain, co-founder and CEO of Everstone.
Oberoi has been a shareholder of Everstone since its inception and has served as a director as well as a member of its various investment committees. He spent over 14 years at Goldman, leading the firm's wealth management business in Asia and later internationally. Oberoi then co-founded ACPI, a multi-family office and wealth management business based in London, which he has since exited.
"I am delighted that Alok is transitioning from a non-executive to a full-time executive and leadership role. I have had the privilege of knowing him and working with him at Goldman Sachs as well as Everstone for over 25 years. We are proud to have him as our executive chairman and look forward to a great journey ahead," Sain said in a statement.
Everstone has $5 billion in assets under management across private equity, real estate, green infrastructure, and venture capital. The firm operates in India and Southeast Asia, with additional offices in London and New York. It is currently investing its third private equity fund, which closed at $730 million in 2015.
