
AlixPartners hires managing director for Shanghai office
AlixPartners, an advisory firm specializing in turnaround deals, has expanded its Greater China practice with the appointment of Ford Motor Company's Stephen Dyer (pictured) as a managing director in Shanghai.
It brings the number of directors in the Shanghai office to seven. Dyer, who specializes in transportation, will focus on supporting multinational and Chinese companies on developing growth strategies and transformation programs across industries including automotive, manufacturing, industrial goods, and technology.
"It is with great pleasure that I welcome Steve to AlixPartners as we continue to expand our service offering for both multinational and domestic China companies," said Simon Freakley, CEO of AlixPartners, said in a statement. "Steve's 15 years leadership experience in China, combined with his market knowledge and fluency in Mandarin, will strengthen our growing team in the region."
Dyer's experience includes Shanghai-based partnerships with both Bain & Company and A.T. Kearney, where he contributed to programs related to electric, autonomous and digital-connected vehicles, as well as smart mobility. Most recently, he served as vice president for business strategy in Asia Pacific for Ford, also via a base in Shanghai.
AlixPartners is headquartered in New York and has offices in more than 20 cities globally. In addition to Shanghai, its Asia footprint includes Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong. In China, the firm has flagged a combination of a rising trade war tensions, a slowing domestic economy and increasing allegations of corporate malfeasance as drivers for increased activity with multinationals.
