
CDIB Capital appoints Asia healthcare head
CDIB Capital has named Robert Liu as a managing director and co-head of its regional healthcare practice group in Shanghai.
Liu will focus on expanding the firm's healthcare coverage across Asia Pacific, excluding Taiwan. Prior to joining CDIB, Liu was a principal at Johnson & Johnson, where he led venture investments in the region. Before that, he served as a director of business development and strategy at GlaxoSmithKline and as an executive at Charles River Laboratories.
CDIB also announced the recruitment of Alex Lam from Bank of China's investment arm as a senior vice president and head of finance in Hong Kong. In addition, Adi Brenner has been appointed a vice president in New York, where he will focus on business services, healthcare, and education deals.
CDIB Capital is the pan-Asian PE arm of China Development Financial, a merchant banking group that has over $90 billion in assets. The PE unit has more than $2.5 billion in assets under management, across funds ranging from early incubation to late-stage growth to buyout. It is most active in the consumer, advanced manufacturing, services, healthcare, and technology sectors.
