Yunfeng backs Chinese automated warehouse solutions provider
Whalehouse Technology, a Shenzhen-based automated warehouse solutions provider, has completed a RMB100 million ($15 million) Series B round of funding led by Yunfeng Capital.
Baidu Ventures, a VC unit launched by search engine Baidu last year, and GSR Ventures also took part in the round, the company told local media.
Formed in 2014, Whalehouse provides outsourced warehouse solutions to traditional industry players and e-commerce companies. It has developed intelligent automated warehouse software that is used to sort parcels by size, enabling staff to store them more quickly and efficiently.
The company claims its solutions are cheaper than those of other automated systems developers in the market. Its clients include cross-border e-commerce firm Global Grow and online retailer Vipshop.
Whalehouse previously raised angel funding from a corporate VC arm of Chinese electricity supplier Gallant Group in 2015, followed by a Series A round worth RMB 68 million led by GSR Ventures last year.
Several warehousing technology developers received VC and PE funding. They include Geek+, a Chinese manufacturer of robots for use in logistics and warehousing, which raised a $60 million Series B round in July led by Warburg Pincus.
