VCs invest $3.4m in Japan's Oneteam
Oneteam, a Japanese workplace chat app provider, has received a JPY380 million ($3.4 million) funding round from a group of venture investors, including existing backer Nissay Capital.
Daiwa Corporate investment, FFG Venture Business Partners, Iwagin Jigyo Souzou Capital and Fringe81 also participated. The capital will go towards marketing activities. The company has also indicated an interest in new product development, including task management and more broadly functional communication tools.
Founded in 2015, Oneteam offers software that aims to improve real-time communication between company employees by facilitating file sharing and organizing discussion points into separate posts that include topic-specific briefings. According to a statement, the company has grown its user base tenfold since June of 2016.
Nissay invested $1.7 million in the company as part of a Series A round last year following a seed round by CyberAgent Ventures. Competitors in Japan include Chatwork, which raised $12.5 million last year from Jafco, SMBC Venture Capital and GMO Venture Partners.
