FountainVest hires ex-Goldman banker as MD
China-focused private equity firm FountainVest Partners has appointed Andrew Huang, formerly head of China M&A at Goldman Sachs, as a managing director.
Huang confirmed his hiring in a LinkedIn post. He spent 13 years with Goldman, also serving as a managing director in the Asia ex-Japan M&A group and as investment banking division unit manager for Asia ex-Japan. This was divided into two stints, in between which Huang was CFO of Pan Media.
FountainVest was set up in 2007 by Frank Tang, George Chuang, Chenning Zhao and Terry Hu, all of whom were previously members of Temasek's China investment team. Huang will take the managing director group to seven, following the earlier additions of Mingfang Lu and Wei Cai.
The GP follows three main themes: the rise of the middle class and domestic consumption, urbanization and industrialization, and sustainable development. It pursues control and growth capital investments in areas such as healthcare, consumer retail, media and entertainment, and lifestyle.
FountainVest has $4.5 billion in assets under management and closed its third fund last year at the hard cap of $2.1 billion.
