China healthcare platform Anxin Doctor raises $29m
Beijing-based Anxin Doctor, a mobile app focused on pediatric and women's healthcare, has completed a RMB200 million ($29 million) Series B round of funding across two tranches.
The investors are Matrix Partners China, IDG Capital and Qiming Venture Partners.
Anxin Doctor was founded in 2015 by executives from internet companies Dianping and Baidu as well as some from traditional pharmaceutical backgrounds. The platform connects patients with specialist physicians in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics.
Patients can book appointments and consult with doctors online, and doctors can use the app to manage patient records and follow up on cases. The company claims to have tens of thousands of doctors in six Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, on its platform.
Anxin previously raised a Series A round from Vision Plus Capital and Ping An Ventures. With the new investment, it plans to expand into offline medical care services, with a view to bringing more patients to the online platform, according to a statement.
Several similar mobile apps have received funding from VC investors. Recent activity in this space includes a RMB100 million Series B round for Easyhin, a mobile app that also provides healthcare services to mothers and children, and a $500 million in a Series A round for Ping An Good Doctor, a healthcare app launched by Ping An Insurance.
