China's CITIC PE creates training program for portfolio executives
Chinese GP CITIC Private Equity has teamed up with Yale School of Management to provide customized management training courses to senior executives from its portfolio companies.
The program, which will take place at Yale University's facility in Beijing, is intended to help improve executives' strategic innovation and operational expertise. It will focus on areas such as corporate strategy, competitive strategy, organizational reforms, cultural innovation, and brand strategy.
The inaugural class comprises more than 30 CEOs and other executives from companies in which CITIC PE holds controlling stakes. A separate program caters to middle management with a focus on financial, human resources, internet marketing and other functional areas. The PE firm already has its own management institute that provides training programs for internal staff as well as for portfolio companies.
"We believe that creating an innovative learning organization is an essential core competence for the sustainable development of every company. In a rapidly changing and highly competitive market, only the companies which are continuously learning will survive and prosper," said Lefei Liu, chairman of CITIC PE, said in a statement.
As of November, the private equity firm claimed to have nearly RMB100 billion ($14 billion) under management across eight funds. It has invested in more than 100 companies, of which over 30 have gone public domestically or offshore. The firm closed its second US dollar-denominated fund at $1.3 billion in early 2015.
