Australia-founded SafetyCulture gets $23m Series B
SafetyCulture, an Australia-founded developer of mobile software for safety inspectors, has raised A$30 million ($23 million) in Series B funding from a group of investors including Index Ventures and Blackbird Ventures.
Scott Farquhar, founder of US-listed enterprise software company Atlassian, also participated in the Series B round. He previously led the company's 2014 Series A round and participated in a A$6.1 million investment last year with Blackbird and Raven Ventures. The new capital will be used for marketing, product development, customer outreach and team expansion at the company's offices in Sydney, San Francisco and Manchester.
SafetyCulture's flagship service is the iAuditor mobile app, which helps companies create safety inspection checklists, conduct on-site investigations and analyze data. The company claims to facilitate one million inspections per month and to have one of the largest safety and quality databases in the world. It is currently focused on developing new ways to share its data with customers to help with risk reduction and quality improvements.
"Businesses need more than a static paper checklist to run their operations, ensure compliance and quickly respond to customer needs," said Index Partner Jan Hammer in a statement. "SafetyCulture delivers consistent, standardized experiences at a large scale. It is outpacing a growing industry with its proactive solutions and we believe it is well-positioned to increase its industry lead."
Switzerland-based Index invests globally with a focus on technology-enabled start-ups. It has previously supported US-based mobile operating system Cyanogen and UK-based online fashion retailer Farfetch. Past investments in Australia include a $10 million Series B round earlier this year for analytics platform developer Culture Amp.
