Bessemer leads $15m round for India's LivSpace
Bessemer Venture Partners has led a INR1 billion ($14.9 million) funding round for Indian online home design portal LivSpace.
Existing investors Jungle Ventures and Helion Ventures also participated in the round, according to a report in The Economic Times linked from LivSpace's Twitter account. The company will use the new capital to grow its team, expand its geographical reach and introduce offline customer engagement facilities using augmented and virtual reality applications.
LivSpace aims to present users with visual aids to help them choose a look for their design projects. It wants to use data science technology to optimize design choices so customers can make informed purchasing decisions on home decor.
Recently Livspace launched a design automation platform for interior designers that lets them create concepts and plans online, with tools to adapt elements to customer specifications. It charges 20% commission to design studios that use the service.
A number of start-ups in India's home decor space have raised funding from VC and PE investors, including online furniture retailer UrbanLadder, whose backers include Sequoia Capital, SAIF Partners and Kalaari Capital, and interior design company HomeLane, also backed by Sequoia along with Aarin Capital.
The investors in this round have participated in both of LivSpace's previous funding rounds in 2014 and last year.
