
Ex-SBCVC partner Joe Chang joins Eight Roads China team
Eight Roads Ventures has appointed former SBCVC investment partner Joe Chang as a partner on its China team.
Based out of Eight Roads' Shanghai office, Chang will focus on consumer, enterprise and financial technologies as well as financial services. This work is expected to leverage a background including recent work as head of corporate development for Cisco Greater China, senior sales roles at Microsoft China and 10 years of consulting experience across China and the US.
"He is an experienced operator and investor with great instincts and the ability to spot new and emerging trends," Daniel Auerbach, senior managing partner at Eight Roads said in a statement. "Joe will continue to build on Eight Roads' 15-year track record of venture investing in China."
Eight Roads, formerly known as Fidelity Growth Partners, claims to have invested in more than 100 companies in the past 20 years. Recent Asia-based activity has included participation in a $15 million round of funding for Japan's Paidy and a $17.5 million investment in Japanese wheelchair developer Whill. In April, it contributed to a $50 million Series C round for China's Hua Medicine.
