Taiwan's ACT Genomics gets $12.5m Series B round
Hotung Group and CDIB Capital has led a $12.5 million Series B round of funding for ACT Genomics, a Taiwan-based company that provides information to cancer treatment specialists.
Existing investors including Eminent II VC, Hua Nan Venture Capital, President International Development and UMC Capital also took part in the round. The company previously received $8 million early last year.
Founded in 2014, ACT operates a sequencing and multiplex molecular testing platform, combining a sophisticated bioinformatics tool with curated proprietary databases and data visualization technologies. The genomic profiling and molecular information it produces is used to expand targeted cancer therapy treatment options, predict patient responses, and monitor tumors.
The company plans to use the proceeds to boost its capacity to support the rapid growth in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Hong Kong, according to a statement.
Headquartered in Taiwan, Hotung Group specializes in venture capital and fund management, operating its own funds and providing third-party management services. CDIB Capital, the PE arm of Taiwan's China Development Financial (CDF), was set up in 2006 and is currently investing its first fund raised from third-party LPs rather than balance sheet money.
