Nominations are open for the AVCJ Awards 2011
As most of you will recall, we started the AVCJ Asian Private Equity & Venture Capital Awards back in 2001, when the region’s nascent private equity industry was going through a “nuclear winter,” picking up the pieces left by the dotcom bust. The awards – which won early support from many leaders in Asian private equity – were intended to recognize the efforts and achievements of the professionals and companies that are the industry’s lifeblood.
Helped by a panel of leading limited partners, who acted as advisers and judges, we awarded prizes in three (decidedly dotcom-themed) categories: Professional of the Year (Lip Bu Tan, Walden International); Entrepreneur of the Year (Narayana Murthy, Infosys) and Firm of the Year (TVG Ventures).
The awards were bestowed in a small but exclusive dinner and ceremony attended by Asia's most senior dealmakers. Since then, the AVCJ Awards have fast become an institution. There have been a few "Oops, what were we thinking?" moments but I am happy and proud to say that the vast majority of winners have lived up to expectations. The Awards have grown with the industry. Categories have been added where necessary, but we have never lost sight of the need to recognize excellence in Asian private equity. Hence the current eight categories - a manageable and suitably exclusive number.
This year, we are once again asking all AVCJ readers and many others in the industry to put forward names that will be considered for the nomination shortlist. Therefore, on behalf of the editorial team, it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2011 AVCJ Asian Private Equity & Venture Capital Awards.
THE CATEGORIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
• FUNDRAISING OF THE YEAR
• DEAL OF THE YEAR
• FIRM OF THE YEAR
• IPO OF THE YEAR
• PRIVATE EQUITY PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR
• VENTURE CAPITAL PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR
• TRADE SALE OF THE YEAR
• AVCJ SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Please take this opportunity to help us acknowledge those people, funds and companies you feel have made their mark in the last 12 months and played a key role in the further evolution of the industry. Nomination forms, as well as detailed descriptions of the requirements for each category, can be found at www.avcjforum.com/nominations.
The Awards will be announced at an exclusive invitation-only dinner during this coming November at the 2011 AVCJ Forum (www. AVCJForum.com).
Thank you and we look forward to receiving your nominations.
