JAL still undecided
Japan Airlines has apparently not rejected any option out of the proposed business alliances offered by Delta Airlines and an American Airlines/TPG Capital consortium.
The Enterprise Turnaround Initiative Corporation of Japan (ETIC) said that it will make a final decision within February, as the issue of partnership with US airline requires major deliberation by JAL. JAL's New CEO, Kazuo Inagaki who was appointed from Kyocera where he serves as honorary chairman, has already met with the two airlines separately; however, no determination was made so far, although the Ministry of Land and ETIC were said to favor Delta's offer. Earlier incorrect reports that JAL had accepted the Delta offer may represent an effort to push the outcome their way.
