Japan's Jafco invests $2.5m in traffic analytics tool
Japanese venture capital firm Jafco has invested JPY3 million ($2.5 million) in Wacul, a Tokyo-based start-up that offers website improvement consulting.
In April 2015, Wacul launched a product called AI Analyst, an access analytics tool for websites which automatically suggests improvements to a site. The platform uses traffic data from Google Analytics - which it aggregates and analyzes - to help users spot problems on their website.
The idea, the start-up says, is to replace human power with artificial intelligence to process high-volumes of data. The service costs JPY30,000 a month but users only need pay for the month when a report is required.
The start-up plans to improve the platform's accuracy through joint research with Professor Yutaka Matsuo's of University of Tokyo, with the view to developing a higher level of artificial intelligence with accuracy exceeding human judgments. The latest round of funding will be used to add staff as well as improve the platform.
