Northern Light backs Chinese mobile app service provider
Northern Light Venture Partners (NLVC) has invested $5 million in a Series A round of funding for APICloud, a China-based mobile app cloud service provider.
APICloud provides technology support for multinational mobile app developers looking to enter the China market, offering cloud services and mobile app features and tools. It also helps developers to localize their apps in China, for example, by introducing Chinese-language versions of apps. The company claims that its technology can reduce the production cycle for an app from one month to one week.
"Without localization, big players from abroad just don't have the capability to serve Chinese customers," APICloud said in a statement.
The company has launched an English language platform, with a view to attracting international uses that are looking to penetrate the mobile business in China.
Founded in 2005, China-focused early-stage investor NVCL manages approximately $1 billion across three US dollar-denominated funds and there renminbi funds. The firm is currently investing its $400 million third US dollar fund, which closed in 2011.
