Indian doctor search app Lybrate secures $10m
Tiger Global has led a $10.2 million Series B round investment in Indian doctor search app Lybrate.
Set up by CEO Saurabh Arora - a former data scientist with Facebook - in 2013, New Delhi-headquartered Lybrate aims to improve access to doctors and healthcare information by connecting patients with doctors via a web-based platform and a mobile app available both on Android and iOS.
The platform - which was officially launched in January - allows users to ask doctors questions online anonymously. Users can also search doctors and surgeries near to them, manage appointments, and save patient records. There's also a system for sending alerts to family members in the event of an emergency.
Patients using the service are charged a fee by the doctor and an additional internet handling fee of 5-15% that goes to Lybrate. The start-up claims to have attracted 80,000 doctors from various specialties to connect with its service. It also claims half a million downloads in the last five months and over 100,000 patients visits to the app every day,
This is Tiger Global's third India tech investment this month. It also led a $100 million Series C round for music streaming service Saavn, and a $20 million investment in news app News In Shorts.
