Singapore marketing tech player Mobikon raises $12.5m
Mobikon, a Singapore-based marketing technology provider for the restaurant industry, has received a $12.5 million Series B round led by Binny Bansal, co-founder of Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart.
The investment is being described as Bansal's largest ever personal commitment to a scale-up targeting Southeast Asia. The entrepreneur reportedly contributed $25 million to a $65 million round for Indian online insurance broker Acko earlier this year.
Existing investors in Mobikon include Jungle Ventures, Qualgro Partners, C31 Ventures, Sistema Asia Fund, and Spring Singapore, although it is not clear if they participated in the latest round. The company has raised at least $24.5 million to date.
Mobikon operates a software-as-a-service platform that facilitates customer engagement and predictive analytics using artificial intelligence. The platform is said to allow closed loop marketing across the customer lifecycle in both online and offline contexts. About 700 brands, including both restaurants and hotels, use the service to connect with more than 12.3 million consumers.
Operations focus mostly on Southeast Asia, although there is a presence in India, the Middle East, and North America. The fresh capital will be used to consolidate this footprint and expand into Australia. "Mobikon has posted a stellar growth rate in customer acquisition in the last few months, along with demonstrated improvement in key business metrics of portfolio restaurants," Bansal said.
