B Capital adds investment partner
B Capital Group has hired former Eight Roads Ventures managing director Kabir Narang as an investment partner in Singapore.
It coincides with four additional hires, including new leadership in the firm’s Los Angeles office and the promotion of summer associate Hailey Hu to the role of senior associate in Singapore. The VC firm – which was launched by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and Raj Ganguly, formerly of Velos Partners and Bain Capital – now employs nearly 20 investment professionals across Singapore and the US.
“Today’s announcement reflects the scaling and maturity of our investment and platform teams,” Gavin Teo, a partner at B Capital said in a statement. “With these highly talented and accomplished individuals, we have the capacity to pursue more investments and provide greater support to our portfolio companies as they grow into industry leaders.”
Narang will be responsible for leading Asian investments. His experience at Eight Roads included leading deals in technology and financial services companies as well as evaluating opportunities across Asia, including in China and Japan. Prior to this, he was employed by Warbug Pincus, McKinsey & Co in India and Boston Consulting Group in the US.
Hu will focus on sourcing and executing new investments and supporting portfolio management, with a particular focus on the Asian healthcare market. He previously served as a health strategy consultant with Accenture.
Founded in 2015, B Capital specializes in growth-stage investments with companies that are ready for global expansion. Its first investment was Asian logistics provider Ninja Van in 2016. Other investments include wellness platform CXA Group, which raised a $25 million Series B round earlier this year.
Last year, the firm reached a first close of $143.6 million on a US and Asia-focused fund, which has a full target of $250 million.
