Ropes & Gray adds partner to Asia private funds practice
Vincent Ip, a Hong Kong-based partner with Ropes & Gray’s private investment funds group, has been promoted to partner.
The promotion - one of 11 elevations to partner announced globally - means the firm now has two partners covering private investment funds in the region. The other is Geoffrey Chan, who moved over from O'Melveny & Myers in 2011.
Ip has been with Ropes for 10 years, having previously worked in the firm's Boston office. He represents institutional and other investors in connection with commitments to private equity funds, hedge funds and separate accounts, as well as co-investment and secondary transactions. He also works with fund sponsors on formation and ongoing representation issues.
Clients include AlpInvest Partners, Bain Capital, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, CITIC Private Equity, GIC Private, Harvest Capital Partners, RRJ Capital, and TPG Capital.
