Ex-KKR Asia fundraiser joins Neuberger Berman as advisor
Clifford Chiu, who stepped down from his fundraising role at KKR earlier this year, has become a senior advisor to Neuberger Berman Asia. He will help build the investment manager’s client base across the region.
As a partner and head of KKR's Asia Client and Partner Group (CPG), Chiu helped raise $14.4 billion across five major markets, including capital for the firm's second pan-regional fund. The vehicle, which reached a final close in July 2013 at $6 billion, is the largest pan-Asian private equity fund ever raised.
Prior to joining KKR in 2007, Chiu served as a managing director responsible for the Asian institutional business with J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
"We are delighted to welcome Clifford to our team in Asia and learn from his vast insights as we continue to expand our presence in this region," said Nick Hoar, managing director and head of Asia Pacific for Neuberger Berman, in a statement.
Neuberger Berman had $257 billion in client assets under management as of June 2014 across equities, fixed income, private equity and hedge fund portfolios. The firm employs more than 120 people in Asia and works with sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and private and retail banks in the region.
