KKR fundraiser Clifford Chiu to retire
Clifford Chiu, a leading figure in KKR’s Asia fundraising efforts, will retire in June after seven years with the firm. He will return with his family to the US.
As a partner and head of KKR's Asia Client and Partner Group (CPG), Chiu has helped raise $14.4 billion across five major markets, including capital for the firm's second pan-regional fund. The vehicle, which reached a final close in July 2013 at $6 billion, is the largest pan-Asian private equity fund ever raised.
"In my years at KKR, I am most proud that we have recruited and trained a senior team of talented, self-starting professionals whose profile, best practices and collective commercial results will lead KKR's Asia CPG team in the years to come," Chiu said.
Joe Bae, head of KKR Asia, added: "Clifford has been an integral part of KKR's leadership team from our early days in Asia, and we are most grateful for all his contributions to the firm."
Chiu plans to remain active in Asia following his retirement, including continuing to serve as an appointee on the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council.
