Adams Street names Yar-Ping Soo Asia investment team head
Yar-Ping Soo, a partner with Adams Street Partners, has been appointed head of the firm’s Asian investment team, succeeding Piau-Voon Wang, who will become a senior advisor.
Wang's decision to step back - he will leave Adams Street in due course but stay within the private equity industry in a different capacity - was reported by AVCJ last month. He has been with the firm for 16 years and was instrumental in formulating the PE fund investment strategy for Asia.
AVCJ understands that Soo has already assumed some of Wang's management responsibilities and a formal transition will be completed before the end of the year.
Soo has been a partner at Adams Street since 2010 and her responsibilities include covering certain pan-regional leveraged buyouts and country-focused funds in such markets as Greater China, Japan, Korea and Indonesia. She was previously with GIC Private, focusing on funds and co-investments.
"Adams Street Partners will celebrate our 10-year anniversary in Asia in 2016. As we look ahead to the next decade, the new role for Yar-Ping Soo as leader of our investment team in Asia and P.V. Wang's continuing involvement as senior advisor signal our commitment to the market and the depth of our team," said Jeff Diehl, managing partner at the firm, in a statement.
Adams Street, which is credited with establishing the first private equity fund-of-funds for institutional investors, has approximately $27 billion in assets under management. It has offices in Chicago, London, Menlo Park, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo.
