CIC's Olivia Ouyang joins OTPP
Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) has hired Olivia Ouyang, formerly managing director and head of emerging markets at China Investment Corp. (CIC), as a Hong Kong-based director of funds and co-investments.
Ouyang joined CIC in 2010 and during her time there was responsible for private equity fund, co-investment and direct investments in Europe and emerging markets. Prior to that, Ouyang served as a senior investment officer with the International Finance Corporation's (IFC) private equity and investment funds group, covering the Greater China, Southeast Asia and India markets.
OTPP, Canada's third-largest pension fund, opened its Hong Kong office in 2013. In November, it appointed Dan Kiang as director of relationship investing to pursue direct deals across Asia.
A few weeks ago, EIG Global Energy Partners hired CIC's oil and gas head Yangyang Liu to head up its recently-established Hong Kong office. Liu spent five years at CIC, first in the private equity department and later in the special investment department, covering oil and gas investments.
In October, Xuedong Ding, CIC's chairman and CEO, moved to investment bank China International Capital Corporation (CICC) as its new chairman.
