Mobile app analytics firm App Annie raises $17m from VCs
Mobile app analytics platform App Annie has raised $17 million in new funding from existing investors IDG Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners and Sequoia Capital.
The company has now raised $39 million in total.
Part of the new capital will be used to finance the acquisition of rival Distimo to establish a footprint in Europe. Distimo's headquarters will become App Annie's new European R&D center.
Founded in 2010, App Annie provides data analytics for downloads, revenues, in-app purchases and ranking data across various categories, geographies and technology standards.
Over the past year, it has doubled its user base and tripled monthly recurring revenues. According to the company, more than 90% of the Top 100 iOS app publishers by revenue rely on App Annie products, including the likes of Google, Microsoft and Tencent.
Nearly 600,000 apps currently use its analytics platform with a total of nearly 270,000 registered business users after combining Distimo's business.
The new VC funding will be also used to accelerate investment in new products, platforms and markets, according to a statement.
App Annie has previously raised three rounds of funding. The latest round follows a $15 million Series C round led by Sequoia, which was completed in September last year.
