China online health forum secures $1m from Lightspeed
Lightspeed China Partners has committed $1 million to Kanchufang, a Chinese online healthcare information operator.
Kanchufang was founded last year, serving as a platform for patients and their family members to share experiences and in turn act as a resource for users to understand the latest medical treatment options.
"Kanchufang's team has rich experience in medical service and internet industry. It's a good combination," Harry Han, a partner at Lightspeed China, said in a statement.
Lightspeed China was set up by Ron Cao and James Mi, formerly managing directors at global venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners. The global firm collaborates with the China affiliate.
Last year, Lightspeed raised $168 million for its debut China fund, exceeding the target size of $150 million. Recent transactions included leading a Series B round for PPDai, which claims to be China's first and largest peer-to-peer lending (P2P) platform.
