Fidelity, Gree invest $5m in Japan's Kaizen Platform
Fidelity Growth Partners and Gree Ventures have together invested $5 million in Japan's Kaizen Platform, the start-up behind PlanBCD, a platform that crowd-sources web design services.
PlanBCD offers A/B testing, which means it helps online businesses to test and improve the effectiveness of a website or online promotion. This is achieved by drawing on a network of around 400 crowdsourced web designers - or growth hackers - who offer services such as search engine optimization, website analytics and content marketing.
The platform claims to have so far acquired more than 30 corporate users since it launched last August. An online edition of the service has also been adopted by 500 companies in 15 countries worldwide.
According to a release, the funding will be used to hire more engineers to work on platform development. The company is also looking to expand into the US and launch offices in San Francisco and New York. Former Google Japan ad sales head Jun Ogawa has been appointed as country manager while former gaming platform head at Gree Yugo Takinoas has been made product manager.
