VC-backed Food Runner buys Philippines' City Delivery
Food Runner, a Singapore-based food delivery company backed by Digital Media Partners, has acquired Philippines counterpart City Delivery.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The acquisition comes eight months after Food Runner spun out from group-buying platform DealGuru. Originally known as Dealivery, the company expanded its business through the purchase of Asian Room Service, a supplier of meals to customers in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
City Delivery's services encompass groceries, flowers and other items, in addition to restaurant meals.
Earlier this month, FoodPanda, a meal delivery company with a presence in Southeast Asia and other markets, received $20 million from VC investors. The business is part of the Rocket Internet stable.
Digital Media Partners is headquartered in Singapore and invests in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam, focusing on the development of the consumer internet and its supporting infrastructure.
The firm launched its first fund in 2011.
