Hogan Lovells expands into Indonesia
Hogan Lovells has teamed up with Indonesia law firm Hermawan Juniarto as part of its strategy to develop a presence in the largest economy in Southeast Asia.
The international law firm has practices covering Indonesia-related matters across the energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors. The association with Hermawan Juniarto will facilitate the firm in reinforcing relationships with Indonesia-based clients and managing inbound transactions locally for global clients.
Hermawan Juniarto, a Jakarta-based firm, comprises five partners and 17 associates dedicated to corporate, finance, infrastructure, energy and litigation.
Irawati Hermawan, managing partner, said Indonesia's economic growth, which has seen the country recently upgraded to investment grade level, has provided opportunities for the two law firms to offer legal services to both Indonesian and global clients.
"After a period of careful assessment we came to the conclusion that having an association in Indonesia was essential to the development of our Southeast Asian practice," James Harris, Hogan Lovells Singapore office managing partner, said in a statement. "Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia, a country with extensive natural resources, a burgeoning domestic economy and an enviable demographic projection."
Hogan Lovells' private equity division has lawyers in 14 countries operating in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and United States, offering services concerning fund formation, financings, initial public offerings, as well as mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships and trade sale exits.
